GARRATT SO GLAD TO STAY AT CREWE

- By Sam Hawthorn

CREWE goalkeeper Ben Garratt believes the time is right to commit his future to the club, after delaying on a deal he was offered in the middle of last year.

Now the Railwaymen have steered clear of safety, the home-grown talent has pledged his future to the club until 2019.

“It’s been on the table for a while, but I was always going to be here for this year anyway,” said Garratt, 22.

“I’m very happy to have signed and secured my future. It’s a big compliment – you can’t take these things for granted.

“It means a lot. This is my club – the club I’ve been at since I was six or seven. To have played so many games already (he’s made more than 150 appearances), I’m over the moon with that.

“It’s an achievement and hopefully now we can all push on together.

“The plan now is for me to stay in the team, keep playing well, build and improve as a player and hopefully improve the team as well. I want to keep going.”
