WARNE’S DELIGHT AT SEMI STAYING

- By Ben Baker

POSITIVE news has been thin on the ground at Rotherham, but manager Paul Warne insists fans have something to smile about after signing Semi Ajayi on a permanent deal.

Ajayi, 23, has been a virtual ever-present in the Millers defence since arriving on loan from Cardiff City in January.

He will stay in South Yorkshire until the summer of 2020 after turning his loan move into a permanent one on Tuesday.

“He has done really well,” Warne said. “He has really impressed us around the training ground with his attitude.

“He always wants to play, even when he has been sore after games.

“That is the kind of mentality we want here, I think you can really judge someone’s character from their desire to go through the pain barrier for the team.

“We are all working hard with him so he keeps improving. The staff are trying to get him to be more vocal, and he is coming along well with that side.”
