MILLER IS A TARGET BEFORE HE EVEN JOINS!

- By Richard Dore

PETERBOROUGH say they have turned down a £250,000 bid from another League One club for striker Ricky Miller – before the player officially joins them! Miller has yet to formally join Posh after signing a three-year deal which begins when his Dover contract expires. He is expected to link up with the London Road club in June. But Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony revealed that a club has already tried to sign him before he has even played for Peterborough The 28-year-old scored 42 goals for the National League side this term. “That could have been the easiest stock transaction of my life. We turned it down. He’s a big part of my plans,” MacAnthony said. “I want Ricky to win the golden boot, possibly this year, in competition with any other strikers we bring in.” Peterborough-born Miller, who Posh originally tried to sign in January, will link up with his new teammates for pre-season training at the end of June. Director of football Barry Fry has been chasing Miller for some time and had a bid knocked back by Dover in January. “Ricky has done brilliantly to score the amount of goals he has and, hopefully, he will come here and hit the ground running,” Fry said.
