CANARY MARIO IS LOOKING TO GET TOUGHER

- By Charlie Peat

MARIO Vrancic is adamant he will quickly get used to the stresses and strains of the Championship following his move to Norwich.

The Bosnian midfielder joined the Canaries in the summer from German side Darmstadt 98.

And, after a mixed start to the season, the 28-yearold is confident he will soon adapt to the pace of the English game.

He said: “I think for sure I have to improve some things, but right now it just feels very good.

“I think we can be a contender, with our game. I thought my performance was OK (in the 2-0 win over QPR on Wednesday) and for sure I must get used to a tough league.

“Of course, you get used to it if you have more minutes and I hope I will get the chance in the next game to get used to it and improve again.

“For sure, I have to improve at it – but not only me of course, everyone.

“There is not so much time to get used to it. We have to do it fast. We had six weeks in pre-season and I learned a lot of stuff in that already.”

Having not been selected for last weekend’s 3-1 loss to Sunderland, Vrancic was recalled for the midweek encounter with QPR and responded by assisting Nelson Oliveira for the Canaries’ first goal.

That is something the six-cap Bosnia international wants to build on.

“I hope I can score sometimes or pass assists, like Wednesday, more often,” he added.

“It’s a very tough league with a lot of games, very tough and aggressive defenders and I have to get used to it. But I will do it.

“Against Fulham (a 1-1 draw on the opening day), this was a very hard game.

“Then, against QPR and Sunderland, they played with more long balls and of course the defenders were very strong and very tough.”
