CANARIES WIN THE RACE TO SIGN RAGGETT
NORWICH City have swooped for Lincoln City’s highlyrated defender Sean Raggett.
The Canaries have signed the 6ft 5ins centre-back on a three-year deal for a reported initial fee of around £250,000 – and have loaned him back to Lincoln until January.
Raggett played a key role as the Imps won the National League last term and also scored the winner in their FA Cup fifth round tie at Burnley.
West Ham and Sunderland were also linked with the former Dover defender, but Championship outfit Norwich won the day.
The 23-year-old said: “It’s a big opportunity in my career and I’m really excited.
“There’s been a lot of speculation but I’ve just focused on my football and I’m really pleased it’s come off.
“Norwich is a huge club and it was a chance I couldn’t turn down.”
Losing Raggett is a blow for Lincoln, but it has been softened by the fact he will be with them until January.
“To be able to bring him back was a vital part of the deal,” said Lincoln manager Danny Cowley. “The fact that Sean wanted to come back and continue his development with us is massive for us both as he is irreplaceable both as a person and as a player.
“If Sean continues to make the progress he has made so far then by the time he goes back to Norwich he will most likely be an integral part of their squad.”
