Team mates

- Andrew Crofts Charlton Athletic midfielder

Best mate at club? That’s a tough one. Me and Chris Solly are very tight. He is up there, along with Josh Magennis. The three of us car-share. Me and Chris are from the same area, Medway in Kent, and we set up our own academy about two months ago. We are trying to build something special in our local area for the next generation of youngsters coming through. Hopefully, we can create a few players and get them into clubs. Last to pay for dinner? He is on loan to Bury at the moment, but Nicky Ajose. He is very tight and loves doing his calculations! He’s a top man, but it will probably be Nicky. Worst dressed? Always a tough one. The young lads coming through have a different idea of what is fashionable to me. You probably would not see me wearing some of that stuff. Ricky Holmes can pull it off. You would say he is Mr. Fashionable, but to me he would be up there with the worstdressed because I couldn’t pull off what he wears. He’s got some good gear. Dressing room DJ? Jason Pearce. He takes pride in selecting the music on matchdays. He is always trying to accommodate the different ages and is doing a great job. Late for training? We have just signed Mark Marshall and apparently he is always late. I will make my own call, but he is up there as one who is going to be late quite a lot, according to one of the boys. I’m not naming names! Teacher’s pet? Ricky Holmes. Not that he sucks up to the gaffer, but he can do what he wants. He had such a good season last year. There were a couple of teams after him and everyone is delighted he chose to stay because he is a massive player for us. But, yeah, he gets away with murder! First on the dance floor? He left the club last week, but probably Tony Watt. Even in the changing room, he was always chucking shapes about and has some decent moves. On nights out, he always likes to get involved. Most likely to disgrace himself at the Christmas party? We have a few crazy boys in the team, to be fair. We could be the new Crazy Gang! We have a good set of lads and Dillon Phillips is great value for a night out. Keepers are always a bit crazy and he is the life and soul of the party. He will have a great career because he is full of confidence. Worst tattoo? Billy Clarke. He has quite a few, but he’s got one in particular by his elbow. It’s a heart, but a girly green colour. It does not quite go with his other tattoos. He is a bit of a caveman, so this emerald heart, as he calls it, has to take the title of worst tattoo. Who will be the best manager? Apart from me, Johnnie Jackson is a player-coach now, so he is probably closest in heading down that career path. He has the respect of the changing room even now. He is working hard on his badges and has done a lot more coaching this year. I like the way he interacts, so he could be a good manager.
