Why Bradford striker Charlie Wyke finds it tough to get to sleep

MARTIN Braithwaite was speaking from Acklam Grange School as part of the MFC Foundation Week of Action. MFC Foundation started the ‘Stepping Up’ programme last year, which aims to provide a positive catalyst to better prepare children stepping up from primary to secondary school. The main objectives are to prepare children for the social and emotional aspects of transition through a programme that uses the inspirational draw of a professional football club and the staff team associated to it.

RYAN Taylor is inching ever closer to a long-awaited return. The sidelined Plymouth forward confirms he is ‘a couple of weeks’ away from resuming full training.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Pilgrims from Oxford last January and scored four goals as Derek Adams’ troops went on to win promotion from League Two, broke his left ankle in the opening game of the season.

He fell awkwardly after challenging for a header against Peterborough.

Plymouth currently have a lengthy injury list and have endured a tough start to life back in League One. Taylor admits that being condemned to the sidelines has been a chastening experience.

“It’s difficult because you don’t feel a part of it. You want to be out there playing and helping the boys out,” said the Pilgrims striker.

“But I have a job to do in getting myself right. I’m sure, once I have done that, I can get out on the pitch and help the cause.

“It’s a weird one when there is a waiting list to get in the treatment room. It’s not a good one.

“It’s hard to watch when things aren’t going well, but I think things have picked up in the last couple of games and we have got some confidence behind us.”

The former Rotherham man’s rehabilitation seems to be progressing as planned and he is champing at the bit to return to the fold.

Taylor said: “Hopefully, in a couple of weeks I will be back in full contact (training). Then, it’s all systems go.

“I will maybe need a couple of reserves games and, if I do well, I will be back in the picture.

“It feels like it has been a long time from the start, but now there is only a couple of weeks left. So, I’m ready to go.”
