Eames is made to wait for win again

- By George Bond

IT WAS a frustrating afternoon yet again for Barnet head coach Rossi Eames as his side failed to secure three points for the tenth game in a row, drawing 1-1 with Yeovil despite an early goal from Simeon Akinola.

Otis Khan’s 80thminute equaliser rescued a point for the visitors, denying Barnet their first win since the start of September.

Charlie Clough beat three men before feeding Akinola on the edge of the box, who curled a sumptuous opener past Artur Krysiak after just five minutes of play.

It looked as though Barnet top scorer Shaq Coulthirst might double the lead on 37 minutes, but he headed wide from six yards out and Eames was left disappointed once again after the final whistle.

“It wasn’t good enough, we didn’t make our dominance in the first half count,” admitted Eames. “You have to kill it off but we didn’t do it and were punished for it.

“You look for three points in every game and we have to keep digging and make sure we’re competing.

“We approached this game in the way that we always do – being assertive in possession, working extremely hard without it and the way we play the 3-5-2 can create and score goals.

“I don’t believe in luck and we’ve got to work harder in what we’re doing. We’re a young group and we’ve got to learn.”

Khan’s goal saw Yeovil snatch a result late on at the Hive for a third successive season, but leaves both sides still struggling in League Two.

A quick counterattack allowed substitute Sam Surridge to feed the 22-year-old midfielder, who raced away from the defence to slot the ball low into the bottom corner.

And Yeovil Town boss Darren Way felt his team deserved the win after the visitors pleaded for a penalty when Rhys Browne went down in the box late in the game.

“It was very, very poor decision-making on that situation, but I have to say that the players’ fightback in the second half was amazing – I think we had 42 final-third entries,” he said.

“There was only going to be one team that came out with a win and unfortunately the officials took that away from us.

“I thought the subs made a good impact and I was just waiting for the memories we’ve had here before.

“But unfortunately on this occasion we didn’t get the right decision that should have been made.”
