SACKED FULHAM ANALYST CALLS IN POLICE

- By Charlie Peat

POLICE were called to Fulham’s training ground this week and controversial tweets were posted and then deleted as the Whites sacked their data analyst Craig Kline.

The American – originally hired back in October 2014 to drive their recruitment plan to return to the Premier League – was sacked on Monday after a meeting with club owner Shahid Khan.

It has not been a happy time in south west London for Kline, who is known to have clashed with many senior figures at the club, including manager Slavisa Jokanovic, over transfer targets.

Jokanovic has openly criticised his own club’s transfer policy in the press in his time in charge at Craven Cottage.

And it all came to a head on Monday with Kline – who originally joined as director of statistical research but was then promoted to director of football operations – given his marching orders.

The American, who went to university with Khan’s son Tony, the vicechairman, then called the police to Motspur Park to make a complaint.

He also posted a number of serious allegations against senior figures at Fulham on Twitter but deleted them soon after.

The Met said in a statement: “Police were called at approx 12.40 on Monday to Motspur Park following a report of non-recent threatening behaviour. There have been no arrests and inquiries continue.”

Kline’s position has been filled in the interim by James Lovell, another data analyst at Fulham.

Club owner Khan had been in London to watch the games against Bolton on Saturday and Bristol City on Tuesday.

A club spokesman said: “Craig Kline is no longer with the club. James Lovell will serve in the analyst role in the interim. Fulham is in excellent shape moving forward.”
