WE SHOULD BE LOOKING UPWARDS NOW – JOSH

-

MIDFIELDER Josh Scowen believes QPR should be targeting a play-off push this season. After helping the R’s get the better of Wolves and Sheffield United in quick succession, the 24year-old, signed from Barnsley in the summer, feels they can look up the table and not over their shoulder. “We’ve got to take it one game at a time, but we’ve just beaten the top two, and against other teams we have been in the game. So, we are more than capable of making the play-offs – as long as our attitude stays the same and we keep playing the way we have been,” he told The FLP. Scowen put in a tigerish display in the heart of the QPR midfield, alongside Luke Freeman and Massimo Luongo, against Sheffield United. He made it tough for Blades starlet David Brooks to find breathing space and got stuck in all over the park, just like R’s boss Ian Holloway wants. “We try and press all around the pitch and they were the same,” said Scowen. “It was a real tough battle “They are a good side and you can see why they are up there. They are playing with no fear, but we matched them and came away with the points. “The manager’s buzzing, as we are. He knows it’s not the best we’ve played but we’ve come away with three points and that’s all that matters at the end of the day. “I think he’s proud of the boys, the way we defended at the end.” And Scowen feels there will be a new mood around Loftus Road now. “Everyone’s buzzing,” he said. “Against Wolves, I think we deserved the points,. We played really well. Sheffield United was a completely different test, but we showed spirit and were resilient. “We got that bit of luck we haven’t had in previous matches. It’s nice to get a couple of wins on the bounce and we’re full of confidence. We have to keep playing the way we have been.” On a personal level, the Cheshunt-born midfielder is more than happy at QPR. “I’m loving it,” added the ex-Wycombe man. “It’s nice to be closer to my family and, football-wise, the way we play suits the way I play. I’m enjoying every minute.”
