LIONS ’ON BRINK OF LURING CAHILL’
TIM Cahill is reportedly on the verge of an extraordinary return to Millwall.
The 38-year-old forward, who spent six years with the Lions between 1998 and 2004, left Manchester City’s sister club Melbourne City in December.
Australia’s record scorer was reported to be flying into the country to finalise the terms of his return.
Meanwhile, Lions manager Neil Harris has criticised fans for snapping him negotiating the loan signing of Jason Shackell.
A picture was circulated on social media appearing to show the 34-year-old Derby defender with Harris and head of recruitment Alex Aldridge at London’s King’s Cross-St. Pancras station complex.
Former Burnley and Norwich man Shackell has joined Millwall on loan from the Rams until the end of the season.
Harris said: “It doesn’t help the club and it doesn’t help me.
“We’ve always been very private with our business during my time in charge.
“You always run the risk meeting in a public place but I’m disappointed a couple of Millwall fans have decided to post information like that .”
However, Harris believes Shackell will have a point to prove after not making a league appearance for Derby this season. He said: “His future probably doesn’t look to be at Derby.”
