COLLINS DOUBLE PUTS SKIP INTO LUTON’S STRIDE
PACESETTERS Luton got back in their goalscoring groove after a quiet spell with a thumping 4-1 home win over Harry Kewell’s Crawley. James Collins struck twice, once from the spot, and Olly Lee and Luke Berry also netted as the Hatters maintained their stranglehold on the division. Kayden Jackson notched his 12th goal of the season as second-placed Accrington Stanley edged past struggling Crewe 1-0. It made it eight wins in nine games for John Coleman’s men. Third-placed Wycombe ran out 3-2 winners against Swindon in another Adams Park thriller. Luke O’Nien, Craig Mackail-Smith and Adebayo Akinfenwa, who headed home an 89th minute winner, were on target for the Chairboys. Marc Richards and Matt Taylor, the latter with a stunning long-range free-kick, scored for the Robins. Jon Stead helped himself to a first half double as Notts County got back to winning ways with a 2-1 success against Carlisle, who pulled one back through Jamie Devitt. Alfie Potter was the star of the show for Mansfield as they thumped Newport County 5-0. Potter bagged a hat-trick, while Danny Rose and Alex MacDonald also got in on the act. Lincoln eased into the play-off positions as Neal Eardley scored a cracker to see off Cheltenham 1-0. Coventry’s feeble February continued as they slipped to a third straight league defeat, going down 2-1 at Colchester. Mikael Mandron supplied the U’s 88th minute winner after Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe’s penalty had been cancelled out by the Sky Blues’ Tom Bayliss.
