team mates

- Steven Old Morecambe defender

Best mate at the club? I’m relatively new to the club, so I haven’t got many! I’ll say Barry Roche because he’s a club legend and he lives close by. Last to buy dinner? The first one that came to mind would probably be Mitchell Lund – he’ll find that funny. Worst dressed? There’s a couple – Adam Campbell, Garry Thompson, and Danijel Nizic; all sorts of stuff from various reasons. They’re all different types of people with different types of bad style. Dressing room DJ? There’s a few but I’ll go for Aaron McGowan. He plays a mixture of R&B, hip-hop and old school stuff, which I like before a match. Always late for training? Adam McGurk. He travels up from Birmingham a lot, so he stumbles in a bit late sometimes. Teacher’s pet? I have to go with Alex Kenyon. He’s a great player and he’s played a lot. He’s vice-captain, so he ticks a lot of the boxes for the manager, I suppose. First on the dancefloor? I’d say Mitchell Lund for that one as well. He thinks he’s got good moves – he tries the hardest, at least! I haven’t been out on that many nights out with them yet. Half the team would probably refuse to dance, to be honest, but Mitchell Lund is definitely the first one. Most likely to disgrace themselves at a Christmas party? The team joker, the absolute funny guy, is Kevin Ellison. I think everyone knows that but he doesn’t make a fool of himself with it – he’s quite controlled. Looking round the locker room, I’d say Ben Hedley. He’s one of the younger guys and likes messing around. He’s a bit inexperienced, so he gets a bit of stick for it. FIFA king? The other guys play but I don’t. I think Luke Conlan is the best out of them. I watch it every now and again and he looks the best. I used to play years and years ago when it came out. I think I was about 16 or 17 but all the buttons have probably changed now. I’d probably get by still, I reckon. Worst tattoo? I think Patrick Brough has a butterfly or something like that – something he got on holiday, the size of a thumbnail – on his body on a random spot somewhere but I’m not sure. I haven’t got any. I’m not really a tattoo guy. The lads said I would suit a sleeve but no – not for me. Best manager in the future? I would have to say Kevin Ellison. He’s doing his badges and stuff and he’s a genuinely great guy on and off the field, so I think he’s got a lot of capabilities to be a good manager. Kevin has got experience. He knows the ins and outs of football in the leagues. He’s played throughout the divisions and he’s good with the lads. I’ve played in different leagues around the world and different styles of football, and I think I’ve got the right demeanour to be a manager. Not just now but we’ll see in a year or two if I decide to take my badges or not.
