GARETH AND CO WON ME OVER...

-

ONE of the drawbacks of being in the FLP offices on a Saturday afternoon is that you don’t get the chance to go and watch matches.

Therefore, I like to attend as many midweek matches as I can. I’ve seen some belters this season and it’s difficult to select the best, but Wycombe v Swindon edges it for me.

When the Chairboys led 2-1 after just ten minutes, it was clear we were in for something a bit special.

Swindon veteran Matt Taylor then netted an outrageous long-distance free-kick that was like an exocet missile to level things up.

As both sides sought a winner, Adebayo Akinfenwa headed home in the 89th minute to earn Wycombe all three points.

It was a cracking contest and a great advert for League Two. It was pretty clear that night something special was happening at Adams Park and it came as no great surprise to me that Gareth Ainsworth’s men went on to clinch promotion.
