DOGGED PRESTON, ROARING LIONS... IT’S BACK!
I AM not going to predict where each team will finish in the Championship as it is just so hard to call.
Last season, the battle for the final few play-off places was made up of teams who many predicted to struggle towards the wrong half of the table and those that finished just outside the play-offs I expect to go close again this season.
Preston were possibly the most diligent and dogged side I saw last season. Alex Neil rarely deviated from his 1-4-2-3-1 with Ben Pearson the heartbeat of a side that no team enjoyed facing.
Neil Harris has the Lions roaring and Millwall have a host of players who are thriving under his stewardship.
The likes of Jake Cooper, George Saville, and Jed Wallace to name a few were superb last season.
Wallace was a young professional at Portsmouth as I was coming to the end of my career, and I am a huge fan of his work rate and endeavour and feel he has a lot more room to improve.
Brentford and Sheffield United will be there or thereabouts.
The Bees have lost a couple but managed to retain llie Watkins, who was a fantastic signing from Exeter City, while the Blades have brought in the youthful Ben Woodburn and experienced David McGoldrick, who could prove to be an astute acquisition for Chris Wilder’s men if he can stay fit.
