CAMERON AIMING TO REPAY THE FAITH

-

THIRD time lucky, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has found a manager who trusts him as the Manchester United starlet steels himself to make an impact at Scunthorpe. The left-back has joined the Iron on a season-long loan deal, his third temporary move away from the Red Devils after sour stays at Championship giants Leeds and Wolves. Borthwick-Jackson treasures the belief shown in him by new boss Nick Daws and the prospect of regular football having made just 13 appearances across both second-tier spells. “The ambition is to get back to where I know I can be and play as many games as I can,” said the 21-yearold. “I probably do better when I have a run of games to get into my stride. “When I was at Wolves, the first game I played, I got man-of-the-match and the next game, I was in the stands, so it was a bit of a strange one. “I don’t think I was Paul Lambert’s type of player – he preferred others and I think that was the same sort of scenario at Leeds. “So, I feel like this manager [Daws] has faith in me. He’s going to give me the chance and hopefully, I can repay that with good performances.” BorthwickJackson, who joined United at the age of six, made ten first-team appearances in his breakthrough 2015-16 season. He continues to draw on those experiences and hopes Scunthorpe, bidding to go one better after play-off semi-final defeat to Rotherham last season, can benefit. “[Louis] van Gaal showed a lot of faith in me, throwing me in must-win games and the Champions League away at Wolfsburg – stuff like that. “Hopefully, this season I can push on and help the team go for promotion.”
