WAGNER: HEFELE WILL SET FOREST ALIGHT
NOTTINGHAM Forest have been told they have signed a “superb character” after announcing Huddersfield’s Michael Hefele as their latest signing.
German defender Hefele, 27, was a regular for the Terriers during their Championship promotion campaign, and has agreed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
“Michael and I have discussed what’s best for him and the club throughout pre-season and I believe this transfer is the correct option for everyone,” said Huddersfield head coach David Wagner.
“He is a player that I cannot guarantee game time to this coming season and that is why he will now join Forest.
“We all know what Hef can bring to the pitch and what a superb character he is, so I am sure he will be a big success at his new club.
“He has played a big part in what we have achieved here in the past two seasons and I wish him all the best.”
Hefele joined Huddersfield in the summer of 2016 from Dynamo Dresden and became a fans’ favourite after scoring on his debut via a bizarre rebound at Aston Villa.
But he was restricted to just two appearances in the Premier League last season due to a knee injury.
“I did it once with a very small club and I just want to do it again, to go with Nottingham Forest as soon as possible to the Premier League,” Hefele said.
