BARTLEY: PATIENCE NEEDED AT THE BAGGIES

- By James Andrew

KYLE Bartley has issued a warning to expectant West Brom fans that after a summer of transition the team needs time to find form.

The 27-year-old defender was snapped up by Darren Moore following West Brom’s relegation from the Premier League last season.

The Baggies made a mixed start to life back in the Championship, winning one of their opening three matches.

And Bartley has urged fans to remain patient as the side look to find their groove and bounce straight back to the top flight.

“Everybody around the place knows that we’re in a slight transitional phase,” he said.

“We’re coming down from the Premier League, under new management and trying to play a different style of football.

“But most importantly we need to win games. That’s what we’ve talked about. If we can do that playing good football then it’s even better.

“We found in the Bolton game that nothing can be taken for granted.

“After the disappointment of that I think we’ve kicked on and picked up some good results.”

Bartley has joined West Brom on a permanent deal following a six-year stint at Swansea where he made just 21 league appearances.

Loan spells at Birmingham and Leeds have made him an experienced head in the Championship and the defender feels he’s starting to hit full fitness with his new employers.

“It’s been a mixed bag. The performances have all been slightly different. But in this league you have to do that. You’re going to have to win games ugly sometimes,” he added.

“I think we can take positives out of each of those games.

“It was always going to take me a bit of time to find my feet.
