RHODES: WE NEED TO MAKE MOST OF SUPPORT

- By Tom Harle

JORDAN Rhodes has challenged his new club to ‘make every game Norwich’s game’ after being wooed by the passionate support in East Anglia.

Pre-weekend, the 28-year-old striker had scored two goals in seven games since moving to Carrow Road on a season-long loan from Sheffield Wednesday in July.

And after getting a feel for the white heat of the East Anglian derby before the international break, Rhodes counts himself a fully-fledged Canary and waxed lyrical about the club’s backing.

“One thing that always struck me as an away player coming to Norwich was seeing so many yellow and green shirts in the stadium,” he said.

“The fans have been really encouraging. It has been great to come to a club and see the amount of fans out in their numbers and away from home, the support has been phenomenal.

“We can use that to our advantage. Every game in the Championship is winnable – we just need to work hard to make every game Norwich’s game.”

Rhodes was made to feel anything but at home when leading the line at Ipswich earlier this month, subject to abuse at the club where he began his career.

But he helped Norwich emerge from Portman Road with a creditable 1-1 draw from the frosty fixture and, in every respect, has felt welcomed at his new home.

Rhodes said: “On a personal note, the atmosphere was a little hostile but one that I really enjoyed.

“It was one of the games when I was growing up that I really wanted to be a part of, so to have played in it was a milestone I managed to fulfil.

“I am enjoying every minute of it. Norfolk is a lovely area to live. My family has really settled and everyone has made me feel so very welcome.”
