PUKKI’S SURPRISE AT START TO THE SEASON

- By David Scott

TEEMU Pukki never expected his Norwich City career to start in such a rich vein of form, but hopes the hard work continues to pay off.

The 28-year-old striker joined the Canaries on a free transfer from Brondby this summer after spells in Spain, Germany, Denmark, Scotland (with Celtic) and Finland.

Despite being one of the quieter characters at Carrow Road, the sixgoal Finn has settled in quickly and is enjoying reaping rewards from the strong start to the season.

“I never expected the start of my career here to go this well,” Pukki admitted. “Of course I’m very happy to be playing this well from the beginning and I hope I can keep doing the same.

“There’s a nice group of guys in the dressing room. We are a pretty young team and I suppose I’m one of the older guys, even though I’m 28.

“I’m quite a quiet guy in the dressing room, but I enjoy the atmosphere, we have lots of funny guys.”

Pukki also hailed Canaries boss Daniel Farke, who is in his second season in charge of the club.

Norwich finished 14th in the Championship standings last term.

“I really like the way Daniel works. It was a good pre-season and very easy to fit into the group,” Pukki said. “We played well early on, but couldn’t get the results we probably deserved.

“But the results are coming now, so it’s looking good at the moment. But we need to keep working hard.”

Pukki is also enjoying his life off the pitch.

“We’ve been playing quite a bit recently, so there hasn’t been many days off, but my fiancée and young baby are here living with me, so we try and get out as much as we can,” he added.

“We go to the city quite a bit when we get a chance – we like it here, it’s very relaxed.”
