MOSES HAS NO DOUBTS ABOUT THOMAS...

-

DEFENDER Moses Odubajo believes Brentford have made a smart move by appointing Thomas Frank as head coach – and has backed him to succeed. The 25-year-old rejoined the Bees this summer after an injury-plagued last couple of seasons at Hull City and feels continuity following the departure of manager Dean Smith and co-assistant head coach Richard O’Kelly is important. “It’s good for the players that it’s someone they know,” said the Greenwich-born rightback. “When the gaffer (Dean Smith) was here, Thomas would take training a lot of the time, so he instilled things in us in that time. For us, nothing really changes and he’s the guy at the front who the fans are going to hammer if things don’t go right! “As players, we’re confident he’s going to get the job done and get us playing the way we did under Dean Smith, and Mark Warburton when I was here the first time.” So can former co-assistant head coach Frank build on the work of the departed duo. Odubajo has no doubts. “He’s going to add to it,” he said. “He’s vibrant and, as a coach, he’s very hands-on on the pitch. He knows what he wants and no one’s confused about that. “He’ll stop things if they’re not right, he’ll say it’s not right and he’s not going to beat around the bush. “Since I’ve come in, I’ve seen his style and his tactics. When we went to Leeds away (1-1), he said a lot, he spoke a lot at half-time about what he wanted and we tried to do that on the pitch. “Hopefully the fans will get

behind him and he can create another real buzz around the place.” As for himself, Odubajo is just delighted to be back playing after a nightmare couple of years. He played for Hull in their Championship play-off final victory against Sheffield Wednesday in May 2016, but then suffered knee injuries that kept him out of action for two whole seasons. Pre-weekend, he’d made three appearances for the Bees this term. “I’m not where I want to be physically but I’ve just got to be thankful that after such a long spell out, I’m back playing,” said the former England U20 man. “I just want to play as many games as possible this season – to show everyone that I’m fit and I can still do what I did before.”
