HUNGRY FER EYES SWANS’ STARTING SPOT...
SWANSEA’S Leroy Fer aims to regain his starting place after continuing his comeback from a groin injury that has seen him confined to a bench role since the start of September.
Having recovered from an Achilles injury, the groin problem has since meant 28-year-old Fer has only had a substitute’s role in the Swans’ last three matches before the international break.
He said: “I recovered well from the Achilles injury and got back quickly, but then I think other parts of my body had to catch up.
“I think that’s why the groin injury came and I was out for a couple of weeks.
“But I’ve been doing work in the last couple of weeks to get back to full fitness. I’ve had a few substitute appearances, but I hope now I can start.”
Fer believes Swansea are starting to show signs of what they can do under former Ostersunds manager Graham Potter.
Fer said: “I think we’ve progressed as a team. We are playing good football – that’s what the gaffer wants.
“We’ve been strong defensively and we look like a strong team.
“Everyone’s working for each other. We have a lot of young, hungry players who want to learn.
“We want to keep the ball and build from the back to create chances. I think that’s the Swansea way and that’s the way we’re trying to play.
“Even in our own box we can play and build.”
