LUCKY AFTER SHAYMEN DENIED

always make the right decision and the longer the game went on the more chances they had.”

The first half saw Morecambe have the better chances with Halifax keeper Sam Johnson doing well to save from Jordan Cranston, A-Jay Leitch-Smith and Vadaine Oliver. Rhys Oates was denied an early second half opener by Matty Brown who produced a superb goal line clearance after the Morecambe player had linked the ball over Sam Johnson.

The home side continued to look the more dangerous but the closest they went to scoring was when Halifax defender Josh Saunders headed an Andrew Tutte cross against his own bar. Halifax staged their late rally, but were to be denied a famous win by the narrowest of offsides.

Halifax manager Jamie Fullarton said of the decision: “I haven’t had chance to see it back and although it must have been tight because there wasn’t much traffic in the box I just have to accept that it was offside and we go again. “It was a fantastic performance from the lads against a very experienced League Two side and I can’t praise them enough for their performance. If I was being super-critical there were areas for improvement, but the attitude and commitment of every single player was superb.

“We defended as if our lives depended on it and put our bodies on the line and with a bit more quality we could have caused them a lot more problems.”
