TAMMY FINALLY GETS HIS REWARD

- By John Lyons

ASTON Villa’s Tammy Abraham hit four goals against Nottingham Forest but still didn’t finish on the winning side – but it has helped him claim a personal award.

His goal spree in the amazing 5-5 draw went a long way to him bagging the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month trophy for November.

Before that game, the 21-year-old striker, on a season-long loan from Chelsea, had netted in the wins against Derby and Birmingham, but his clinical display against the Reds took him to six goals in four games.

“I’m delighted to be named Player of the Month,” said Abraham.

“It’s been a great few weeks for us as a team as well as me personally. Hopefully we can continue that over a busy Christmas period and beyond.”

Salute

Villa manager Dean Smith has saluted Abraham’s goalscoring exploits.

“Tammy has been a key part of our recent good form,” said the former Brentford boss. “His previous spell in the Championship (at Bristol City) showed everyone what he’s capable of and he’s displaying his goalscoring abilities once again. Long may it continue.” Norwich head coach

Daniel Farke has picked up the managerial prize after taking the Canaries to the top of the table with ten points and 12 goals from four games.

“At the start of the season, you couldn’t predict that we’d be in this position after 20 games - the lads have been brilliant so far,” said the 42-year-old German boss.

“It’s always important for everything to come together in football and at the moment we’re finding a good balance. We’ve scored many, many goals in recent weeks but didn’t forget to do our basic work.”

In League One, Luton attacking midfielder Elliot

Lee has scooped the player accolade after scoring five goals and making another.

The 23-year-old said: “I like to think that I am a natural goalscorer and this month I’ve found myself in the right place at the right time, so I’m happy with how it’s going at the minute.” Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has won the manager gong after his side won four from four to climb into the play-off places.

Delighted

“I’m over the moon,” said the 41-year-old. “But I’m not just delighted for myself because it is something for the club as well. Everyone is involved, including all the staff that nobody sees, and the players because they are the ones who go out and win games. I get the trophy but it’s not just about what we do, and the fans are part of it, too.”

Meanwhile, in-form Bury have captured both Player and Manager of the Month awards in League Two. Midfielder Jay

O’Shea took the player prize thanks to four goals and two assists.

“It’s definitely the best run I’ve been on at Bury,” said the 30-year-old. “I think confidence and the way the team is playing is what has allowed me to get so many opportunities in front of goal and the way the team’s been performing has allowed me to chip in with a few myself.”

Boss Ryan Lowe claimed the manager honour after the Shakers scored 14 goals on their way to earning ten points from four games.
