AJAYI’S KEEN TO EMBRACE FESTIVE FIXTURES

- By Jeff Welburn

ROTHERHAM defender Semi Ajayi is relishing the thick and fast nature of games over the festive period and insists he is feeling fresh.

The 25-year-old Nigeria international has impressed both in central defence and deeplying midfield roles for the Millers so far this season.

“I’m feeling fine and not feeling any sort of fatigue whatsoever,” he said.

“I’m just looking forward to each and every game and, to be honest, it’s a case of the more the better.

“If you ask any footballer if they would rather play a match or train, they will tell you it’s the former.

“The fact that we have so many matches in quick succession isn’t necessarily a bad thing for the majority of us and I would say, as a group, we relish 3pm on a Saturday, or whatever time it is going to be.”

However, despite a good start to the campaign, Ajayi knows there is no chance to take his foot off the gas.

“I’ve had a good season so far, but there are a lot more games to come and a lot more hard work to get through. I’m just focused on doing that,” he added.

“We take every game as it comes and we go into every match wanting to win.

“We don’t highlight certain games thinking we need to win here and we can afford to lose that one. We want to win every game and we’ll see where that takes us.”
