PACK’S UPBEAT OVER THE REBUILT ROBINS

- By Max Chesterton

BRISTOL City midfielder Marlon Pack believes his side could be outside playoff candidates after going 12 games unbeaten heading into the weekend.

Despite a host of star names departing at the start of the season – including Aden Flint, Joe Bryan and Bobby Reid – the 28-year-old thinks his side are promotion dark horses.

With the Robins flying high off the back of six successive victories going into yesterday’s match against Swansea, Pack is confident that the men frrom Ashton Gate club have rediscovered their ruthless streak.

“It was always going to take time. I don’t think anything happens overnight and even the success we had last year if you have a look at it, it was a squad that had been there for a couple of years,” he said.

“Maybe we are starting to click into gear now and that’s why the run has started coming together, and some of the new players are understanding what the gaffer and we ask for as a team.

“Hopefully, that will bode well for the second half of the season. I still don’t think we have reached our full potential and our stride but talk is cheap, so we will see.”

With Chelsea loanee Kasey Palmer joining the ranks and looking impressive in the Cup win over Bolton, Pack believes his side are ready for the big time.

He added: “The progress that the club has made each season, in the time that I’ve been here, there’s always been an improvement.

“It’s all about not getting carried away but we’ve got a very grounded group of lads that are hungry for success, so maybe we will go and achieve that.”
