team mates

Best mate at the club?

It’s Liam Ridehalgh. We’re both Yorkshire lads and we actually met four or five years ago when we were away on holiday before we played together. Our wives get on very well and we went to each other’s weddings. Even when we weren’t playing at the same club, we would keep meeting up every few months.

Last to buy dinner?

It’s got to be new signing David Perkins. Scott Davies travels to training with him and he says he would be last to put his hand in his pocket. It’s probably why he has more money than the rest of us!

The Fifa king?

It’s not something I keep up with – I’m not much of a gamer myself and I wouldn’t really even know who was good at FIFA. I know Connor Jennings is a big gamer and was in the process of trying to get himself a gaming manager. He’s into it and I think Harvey Gilmour is as well.

Worst dressed?

That’s actually quite a tough one to choose. There is a group of young Scouse lads – Patrick Wharton, Carl Spellman and Jay Devine – who wear these big trainers and designer polo shirts. They all wear similar gear and I just do not get it myself.

The prematch dressing room DJ?

The man in charge of the music is Andy Hodgen (head of sports science). He tends to direct things with the music and plays a bit of everything for us. Scottie Davies sometimes takes control of it and plays some good stuff. I like a good mix myself – a bit of RnB, trance or house music.

Late for training?

Larnell Cole was late all the time but he has just left the club. He was just a laidback guy – that was the way he was. Steve McNulty turns up for training every day at 9.28am when we start at 9.30am. He’s a good guy but always gets in just two minutes before we start.

Teacher’s pet?

The gaffer (Micky Mellon) seems to love a couple of the guys – they are going to hate me for picking them. It’s Scott Davies and Steve McNulty. He tends to give them a bit of special treatment compared to everyone else. They seem to just have a few more conversations with the manager, always laughing and joking

with him.

First on the dancefloor?

To be honest, I’ve only been with the club a few months and I’ve not been on a night out with them yet. I know from the boys that Jonny Smith likes to have a dance when he’s had a couple of drinks. Jonny likes to think of himself as a bit of a dancer. He will just get up and do random dance when we are doing some gym work.

Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party?

We ended up not having a Christmas party this year because it was scheduled for a Saturday and we ended up having a game on the Monday! I’ve heard Scott Davies and Jay Harris get a bit loose once they’ve had a few drinks, so I guess it would be one of those two.

The worst tattoo?

James Norwood. I think he likes to think he’s like David Beckham with his sleeve tattoos. Not many of the team have tattoos.

Going to make the best manager?

I think Steve McNulty would be a very good manager. He has good skills for organising the team, which he does as captain. He has the way about him to be a good manager.
