HUGHES FULL OF PRAISE FOR ACE GALLY...

- By Ben Pound

ANDREW Hughes has hailed the quality of Paul Gallagher and the Preston squad as they continue to climb the table.

The Lilywhites were 10th, six points off the final play-off spot, ahead of their home clash with Bristol City yesterday.

The 26-year-old leftback has enjoyed his first season at Deepdale and is confident there is “more to come” from Alex Neil’s side.

“When you get Gally on the ball, we know that anything can happen,” Hughes said. “Having the quality in the squad is a good thing.

“It means that if someone does need to come out of the side, there is someone else who can step straight in and do the job, so it is a benefit for everyone.

“There’s more to come. Moulty (Louis Moult) and Robbo (Callum Robinson) were both firing before their injuries and it will be good to have them back soon.

“Seani (Sean Maguire) is back to his best now... So everyone is playing their part.”

Meanwhile, Jordan Storey, who arrived at the club from Exeter last summer, admits he has been surprised by the amount of games he has racked up for the club.

The 21-year-old defender said: “I think my development has been going great, better than expected; I didn’t expect to play as many games, but I am starting to establish myself now and I am really pleased with how things are going.

“It helps not only me, but the team in general, to know that we have such a strong bench. Everyone knows that they can’t have a bad game, because they know the players on the bench are itching to go and are good enough to step up and do the job.

“I am enjoying it. I take every game as it comes, but it has been great to play a consistent amount of games.”
