BRYAN FINDS HIS STING AS BEES SHOW THEIR CLASS

- By Ben Pound

BRENTFORD forward Bryan Mbeumo feels like he is hitting his stride after a successful few weeks.

The 20-year-old attacker has three goals and three assists in his last five games for the Bees after joining the side in August.

Mbeumo signed a fiveyear deal after leaving French side Troyes and has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Thomas Frank’s side this season.

“It was really pleasing to win 3-0 (against Wigan),” Mbeumo said after the win in the northwest.

“It was really nice to score and to help the team to climb the table. It is now four wins in five and we are playing really well. We are climbing the table, but we need to keep going to get nearer to the top.

“I have had time to get used to the league now and it is good to be able to help the team.”

Bees defender Henrik Dalsgaard is at a loss to explain Brentford’s sudden form which has seen them climb to ninth in the standings. The 30-year-old Dane said: “It is a great feeling that we are getting the results now.

“I don’t think we’ve done anything different than at the start of the season though. There are just some relationships that click now, and we know each other better. Especially on the field, we are not fun to play against at the moment.

“We won only three away games last season, and now we have won three in a row, so we’re doing things the right way.

“We haven’t done much differently, but sometimes it’s also just a lot about luck and margins.”

Dalsgaard also praised the club’s management following the upturn in form.

“It’s great to be in a place where the manager and the owners do not panic and change everything because the results are not there,” he added.

“Brentford are a solid club, and you can see the results now.”

QPR boss Mark Warburton has hailed full-back Lee Wallace for his attitude.

The 32-year-old joined from Rangers in the summer, but only made his debut against Leeds at the start of November.

Warburton praised the experienced defender for his input off the pitch on his way back to fitness and hopes he can now kick on after making a full recovery.

“I know all about Lee Wallace,” Warburton said. “He was my captain and I saw what an outstanding job he did up in Scotland and the esteem in which he was held by Glasgow Rangers supporters and his team-mates as well.

“Lee came to me (a few weeks ago) and said that he was very embarrassed that he hasn’t been fit to play, which is ridiculous, but that is how he felt.

“I hope we can all see the best of him now.”

Warburton thinks Wallace’s performance at Elland Road shows he has been able to hit the ground running after his spell on the sidelines.

He added: “He’s been patient and his chance came at a very tough venue, in Elland Road, against a very good team but I thought he stepped up to the plate and showed his quality on and off the ball and with his communication skills.

“It was a great performance for someone who has been out for so long.

“He is a very experienced player and the type of character to pass on his knowledge.”
