IT’S NOT TIME TO REST ON LAURELS – BILIC

- By Chris Dunlavy

WEST Brom boss Slaven Bilic has urged his high-flying side to guard against overconfidence as they bid for a sixth successive Championship victory at the Hawthorns.

Beaten just once all season, last Monday’s last-gasp victory over Preston North End marked the club’s longest winning run for almost a decade.

Heading into the weekend, Bilic’s side were seven points clear of third-placed Fulham and, with 36 goals, had outscored every other team in the division.

But visitors Swansea are the only side in the EFL still unbeaten on their travels and Bilic says his players must not get carried away.

“I think this is the most confident we have been this season so far,” said the Croatian, who took charge in the summer. “With recent results, and when you are at the top of the table, the belief naturally grows. We are on a good run and we can’t wait for the next games.

“It’s great to have that but we have to be careful because there’s always a danger of becoming overconfident.

“There’s a danger of thinking that you don’t have to put in as much effort and that victories are going to come by default. That is wrong. “There are many things that we can improve and we must improve, not only to maintain this form but to also lift it up. It’s our job to make sure that happens.”

Bilic has a fully fit squad to select from for the visit of the Swans, with club captain Chris Brunt back in training after a niggling calf complaint. “Brunty is good,” added Bilic. “He should be back.”
