TOMLIN SEES THE REWARDS UNDER HARRIS
LEE Tomlin is enjoying a new lease of life at Cardiff City under new manager Neil Harris.
The 30-year-old forward has started the past two matches since Harris’ arrival and hopes he has impressed enough to keep his place.
Speaking ahead of the Bluebirds’ clash with Barnsley yesterday, Tomlin said: “He’s a young manager who has brought in new ideas to the squad, and you can see that from the results we have had so far.
“There’s been a focus on working as a team when we’re out there playing and in training, so we’ve been working on strengthening that foundation.
“The gaffer knows what I can do, as I’ve played against him before. He’s seen what I can do with a football and what I bring to a side, so I’m happy to have played under him in the past few weeks.”
Cardiff sat 10th in the Championship ahead of the Tykes’ arrival, and Tomlin is confident the Welsh club have the experience in the squad to improve on that.
“We’ve got unbelievable players at the club and a big squad to go with it,” he added.
“There’s a lot of experience here, where even if you’re taken off the pitch you know that the guy replacing you will also be an experienced player.
“Ever since I’ve come to the club the fans have been unbelievable with me, and I can’t thank them enough really.”
Meanwhile, boss Harris is looking forward to having Isaac Vassell at his disposal, but will not rush the forward back into action.
He said: “Isaac is a nice lad. Always bubbly and smiling.
“The physios and sports scientists have spoken really highly of him. I’m conscious not to put a timeframe on it. You end up putting players under unnecessary pressure.
“We’re careful. All the guys with long-term issues that are rehabbing at the minute are working really well.”
