HUNGRY LIAM IS LOVING LIFE AT ROVERS

Shephard came through Swansea’s youth academy before three loan spells at Yeovil and spent the whole of the 2017-18 season at Peterborou­gh, making 30 appearance­s.

The right-back has been almost an ever-present with Rovers this term, scoring goals against Morecambe in the league and Billericay in the FA Cup, and is full of praise for the set-up.

He added: “I played wing-back a couple of times at Peterborou­gh but I didn’t really understand the position.

“I came here and straight away, in the first two or three days, they told me exactly where I needed to be and how they wanted me to play. They fed you all the informatio­n you required and it is down to us to perform.” FOREST Green full-back Liam Shephard is now into his second season at The New Lawn and has no regrets about stepping down the divisions from Peterborou­gh.

The Posh are currently battling away at the top of League One but Shephard is doing the same with Forest Green in League Two, where he’s become a first-team regular.

The 25-year-old Welshman admits to having concerns before he joined in June 2018 with Rovers finishing just one point above relegation a month prior but says manager Mark Cooper’s style of play influenced his decision.

“I wouldn’t lie, I was a bit nervous about the decision because of the position the club finished in the first season in the EFL,” said Shephard.

“I was pushing for promotion in League One and it was a gamble for me but the big thing was about playing games. The way the manager played, having played against his side when he was at Swindon, I
