EAVES IS EXCITED BY MADD SERVICE

- By Tom Dean

TOM Eaves says he will look to build a strong relationship with Hull City’s deadline day signing Marcus Maddison.

The Tigers secured the services of 26-year-old Maddison in a loan deal from Peterborough United, which will keep him at the club until the end of the season.

Having tested himself against

Maddison in the past, Eaves believes Hull have secured a player who can make a real difference and is excited to play with the attacking-midfielder.

“I’ve played against Marcus quite a lot in the past two or three years,” Eaves said. “He is not someone who is short on confidence and belief in his ability and why should he be?

“He’s come here on the back of some impressive seasons in League One and we’re all hoping that he can replicate that in the Championship.”

The strong showings Eaves talks about have seen Maddison be involved in an impressive 86 goals as either the scorer or the man providing the assist over the past six seasons.

For Eaves, 28, it will be important to spark up an immediate relationship with Maddison and he feels confident he will be able to do so.

“I was watching some of his clips with the manager and the lads the other day, just to see some of the areas he likes to take up and when he likes to cross the ball and when he doesn’t,” the forward, who has seven goals for Hull this term, said.

“There are things that we are working on and it is all about having that chemistry and rapport with the boys that have come in and joined the club. I will be there, waiting patiently in the box looking to get on the end of any of the crosses he delivers.”
