WE NEED TO KEEP FOCUS – HARRISON
LEEDS winger Jack Harrison has called on his teammates to not add any “unnecessary pressure” on themselves by getting caught up in promotion talk.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side moved to the top of the Championship and seven points clear of thirdplaced Fulham with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield last weekend.
Excitement is building at Elland Road as Leeds look to return to Premier League for the first time since 2004, albeit tempered with the league’s coronavirus-affected suspension until April.
With nine games remaining, Harrison, 23, said: “At this point in the season we have to continue to focus on us, winning games and getting as many points as we can.
“We can’t get too caught up with everything else that’s going on in the league as that just adds unnecessary pressure.
“We just focus on ourselves, keep our head down and keep taking it game by game.”
Luke Ayling’s stunning volley gave Leeds the lead against Huddersfield before Patrick Bamford’s close-range finish sealed a fifth league win on the trot.
“It was a good performance by the lads,” Harrison added. “We knew how important it was to continue this run, especially coming towards the end of the season.”
