TYREEQ’S BUZZING AS THE PILGRIMS PUSH ON

- By Adam Le Roux

TYREEQ Bakinson believes the spirit in the camp has been a major factor in Plymouth’s assault on the League Two promotion places this season.

The 21-year-old made the loan move to Home Park from Bristol City at the start of January, and has since been a mainstay in the engine room for Ryan Lowe’s side.

The midfielder has produced a number of influential performances in the green of Argyle, as well as twice finding the net, which has helped him become something of a fan favourite among the Green Army.

“From the moment I stepped in the building really, the players, the staff and the fans in the first game made me feel welcome, so it helps a lot, especially with your performance,” he said.

“I’m buzzing with how things have been going. We had a bit of a dip but I think we’re back to how we want to play our football now, so I’m buzzing.”

The Pilgrims currently sit in the automatic promotion places in the fourth tier, as they look to bounce back to League One at the first time of asking.

Their cause has been helped by an impressive run of just two defeats in their last 14 matches, which coincides with Bakinson’s arrival in Devon.

And the former Newport County man insists the collective camaraderie of the squad has helped with that momentum, with everybody pulling in the same direction and sticking to Lowe’s ball-playing philosophy.

“The dressing room is feeling excited, we’re happy to be playing the type of football we enjoy whilst winning games on the way,” Bakinson said.

“Everyone’s on the same wavelength, so that’s credit to the coaches and staff, playing with the ball on the floor and the type of football we play, it just feels good to be involved.”
