MCCANN CAN REVIVE THE TIGERS

HULL City climbed to eighth in the Championsh­ip on New Year’s Day with victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Since then, nine defeats in 11 without victory had led to the Tigers dropping to 21st, one place outside the relegation places. Anybody who knows me will know that I wax lyrical about the coaching brilliance of Hull boss Grant McCann. Grant is truly outstandin­g on the training ground.

His coaching ability will unquestion­ably have helped to develop the talent of Jarrod Bowen into the player that secured a reported £20m-plus for Hull from West Ham.

Hull have suffered a catastroph­ic injury crisis at a time when the team was always going to need time to adjust to life without its prime asset.

Grant is a proud person. He is a fighter. He is a winner. Not a talker. He does what it takes. He has grit.

His is a tough situation but his club could not be in stronger or safer hands. When the going gets tough...
