I have not been interviewed for the manager’s position, but I feel we are doing a good job as it is.

“When the club speaks to me again I’ll see what they say.

“I will be in charge for the Rotherham game and have no idea if a permanent appointment will be made in the next few days.

“The club will go through managers who are available and I will keep on doing what I’m doing until I am told differently.”

Forest took their run of good form as they climb away from the relegation area to one defeat in their last 11 league games.

“This was a difficult game. Forest set up well and we couldn’t break them down,” admitted Woodgate.

“We have players, though, good enough to go on a run.”

Junior Stanislas and Shane Long both might have put Bournemouth ahead in the first half.

In-form Stanislas, with 10 goals, tried to find the far corner with an angled 11th-minute shot, but put the ball wide.

Long almost doubled his height in reaching an Arnaut Danjuma cross, but headed over.

Forest’s chances weren’t so spectacular, Begovic collecting a Krovinovic drive from a freekick move and James Garner shooting wide.

Apart from that, chances were few, despite Anthony Knockaert doing his best to set up Murray with more goals to add to the couple he got last week.

“I had Murray at Brighton. I know what he can do. He keeps himself very fit and he is an excellent, experienced player,” said manager Chris Hughton. “Murray brings a lot to the team. I feel we recruited well in the transfer window.

“There are going to be games where the opportunities to score are going to be very few, particularly when we are playing teams like we have today.”

Hughton was so pleased with the way his team took on expensively-assembled Bournemouth, with Jefferson Lerma alone costing £25m, that he made no substitutions.

That’s rare in such a demanding season and Hughton said: “The feeling was that to make a substitution might disrupt too much what was happening on the pitch. We were doing well against good quality and I had confidence in my players that were on the pitch.”
