Team mates

- James Perch Mansfield Town Midfielder

Best mate?

The person I probably get on best with is Farrend Rawson. During all the Covid-19 goings-on he’s one of the lads I’ve shared a dressing room with and roomed with, and he’s a Nottingham boy like me so we’ve got quite a bit in common. I also play golf with Jordan Bowery and he’s a really good guy.

Last to buy dinner?

I haven’t really had any nights out with the lads because of Covid-19, so it’s difficult to say. George Maris is a Yorkshireman so he’s quite tight and dour. There must be something in the air up there because every Yorkshireman I’ve come across is the same!

Worst dressed?

I’ll go for Tyrese Sinclair - he’s a young boy and he thinks a name is everything. I’ve told him that he’ll learn and that brands aren’t everything, but for now he’s not going to listen to me because he thinks he’s trendy.

Dressing room DJ?

Corey O’Keeffe puts on his playlists whenever he’s involved.

It’s usually a good mixture of everything, but probably more towards the R&B and hip-hop genres than anything else. The gaffer’s not keen on it, put it that way! My taste is more similar to the manager’s – the young lads wouldn’t like my playlists!

Always late for training?

That’s definitely Rollin Menayese, who recently left for Grimsby on loan. He was late for a reserve match a few weeks ago and was disputing it. He kept dragging it out, and we all knew it was because he was going out on loan which he thought would mean he wouldn’t have to pay his fine. When he gets back we’ll have to make sure he coughs up!

Teacher’s pet?

George Lapslie was on loan from Charlton and he’s recently joined permanently. I think the club were desperate for him to sign so they’d give him extra days off when they could to keep him sweet. It’s more the club sucking up to him than the other way round!

First on the dancefloor?

That’s a tough one, but I’ll go for Corey O’Keeffe again. I haven’t seen him dancing yet but I think he fancies himself as a bit of a showman, and I could see him running onto the dancefloor. Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party?

I’ll say big Andy

Cook because he’s a north-east lad and they like to party.

I’ve known loads of Geordies to let things get out of hand on a night out, and I’d imagine Cooky’s no different. Whether I’m right or wrong, I’m looking forward to finding out when we can, although he went on loan to Bradford a couple of weeks ago so it might not be for a while!

Best at FIFA?

I don’t play it but I hear enough about it, because the lads have a gaming group. They all fancy themselves and are always arguing about who’s best, but the feeling I get is that George Maris is the one to beat.

Worst tattoo?

Andy Cook’s got a big wolf on his leg, I think. I don’t know what that’s about! I’ve got a few tattoos which some of the lads would probably say are quite bad, but I’ll have to say Cooky.

Best future manager?

Based on how he looks at the game I’ll say Farrend Rawson. He talks about the game a lot and he seems to enjoy learning and studying football.
