KABASELE SO EAGER TO HELP HORNETS

- By Ben Pound

WATFORD’S Christian Kabasele hopes to play his part in an “exciting” run-in to the season.

The 30-year-old defender has been sidelined since December due to bone bruising on his knee, but is now closing in on a return to action.

Kabasele is keen to help the Hornets back into the Premier League, and said: “I’m feeling quite good now. My knee is reacting well, so I hope to join the team soon.

“Sometimes there’s a machine or something to help heal faster, but with this you just need to rest and wait until the pain is gone.

“There hasn’t been much to do other than to be patient. It’s harder mentally as you want to be involved as a football player all the time, but I’m on my way back.”

He has seen Watford kick on in his absence, with Xisco Munoz’s side sitting second on goal difference from Swansea heading into yesterday’s trip to Cardiff.

He is expecting a tough end to the campaign, but added: “It’s exciting, we’re in a good position.

“Before this (his injury) we weren’t in the first two positions, but now we are there and we need to do everything we can to stay there.

“The pressure will increase. We’ll have some big games in April.”

FRAIZER Campbell believes Yaya Sanogo has been “a great addition” to Huddersfield’s squad.

Striker Campbell, 33, played with Sanogo at Crystal Palace earlier in his career and was pleased to see the Terriers bring in the 28-year-old on a free at the end of February.

The former Arsenal forward is still building up his match fitness and made his first start in the goalless draw with Cardiff last Friday, missing a penalty.

Campbell said: “When you’ve worked with someone before it helps with the learning process. He’s a great addition.”
