Help shape council plan
RENFREWSHIRE residents are being urged to help council chiefs prepare a new local development plan.
The plan, which will be the third of its kind for the local authority, will set out a longterm vision on how land is used over a 10-year period.
The council has said it wants to understand what people think about the places in which they live and work, so it can deliver a “peoplecentred” plan which is shaped by stakeholders and communities.
As part of the process, there will be two separate surveys – one will focus on questions about public transport, how people move around, what there is to do and facilities and services, while a second will concentrate on any additional views, ideas or proposals on specific places in Renfrewshire.
A council spokesperson said: “We want your views to help us prepare our next local development plan.
“The plan will come into effect in 2027 and set out how land is used in Renfrewshire over the next ten years.
“We are also launching a call for ideas where you can make suggestions on what you think should be done with specific areas of land and buildings in your community.”
The existing local development plan was approved by the council in December 2021.
It sets out the spatial strategy and proposals for Renfrewshire.
In the document, it explains its aim is to ensure the “right development happens in the right places” and stresses the importance of high-quality design, energy-efficient and low-carbon developments that benefit communities and safeguard the environment, as well as natural, built and cultural heritage.
Both surveys relating to the creation of a new plan are set to close on Friday, May 31.
