A WOMAN has been named ‘trainer of the year’ for the second year in a row – after starting her business only three years ago.

Amy Pounder started her women’s fitness bootcamp in March 2019 and despite a difficult two years of lockdowns and restrictions has again won the Corporate Livewire Yorkshire Prestige Awards title for the area.

Since her first award in 2021, her bootcamp has grown even more and over 150 women are now signed up to her sessions and fitness classes.

As well as the two regional awards, which celebrate small and independent businesses, Amy also made the top seven in the National Fitness Awards – the biggest fitness event in the UK.

After a huge amount of success in such a short period of time, the personal trainer is aiming for a national win and an even bigger business.

Amy is keen to run her bootcamp, which is in Queensway House in Middlesbrough, as she does now but is hoping to expand it by moving into a bigger premises and starting one in a different area. Amy, who lives in Stockton, said: “It’s amazing to be recognised again. I’ve only been going for about three years so to win it after two years and then to win it again is even better to be honest!

“I’ve grown in confidence and I’ve become more knowledgeable. All the women are success stories.

“They’ve all done absolutely amazing. It’s not an easy bootcamp to be on, it’s hard – I know that because I planned the classes myself and had to do it!”

A year on from her first award, Amy has now introduced two new bootcamps to join her £100 eight-week one. Women can now choose a four-week or a six-week bootcamp and after all three bootcamps end they can stay on as a monthly member of Amy’s programme.

The 31-year-old offers over 35 classes per week as part of the bootcamp to fit in with everyone’s working lifestyles. All of the bootcamps include three sessions a week and a full diet plan.

Amy, who used to work for Mercedes-Benz in customer service, said: “I pride myself on my customer service. I think working in the motor trade has really helped that. I’m taking it as it comes but I am looking to expand into something bigger.”
