Castle just too strong for the Sinners

IN the Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB Premier League, Billingham Synthonia crashed to 101 all out at home to Barnard Castle.

Karl Carver claimed 3-13 with the ball but the visitors made a bad start as Thomas Wing (3-25) struck the early blows.

However Finn Usher, with 50 not out, and Richard Borrowdale, 32 not out, guided their team to victory - finishing on 102-3.

Great Ayton notched up 216 all out against Stockton as Phil Holdsworth and Martin Philpott both hit 67, while Matthew Gill claimed 3-34.

The visitors then crumbled to 99 all out with Joe Marsey recording figures of 4-42 and Simon Lambert 3-20 to win the game by 117 runs.

Darlington’s Liam Coates was in the runs again as he made 74 at Middlesbro­ugh, while Muhammad Saad added a useful 59 in a total of 183-5.

Boro lost James Lowe early on and crumbled to 121 all out, despite Cole Pearce resisting with 34, as Craig Marshall bowled an impressive line in taking 5-16.

Richmondsh­ire piled up the runs at home to Stokesley, Mark Layfield hitting 67, Gary Pratt an excellent 100 not out from 100 balls, which included 13 fours, and Owen Kelly adding48 not out in a total of 277-3 declared.

Opener Andile Mogakane posted 86 and Finlay Morris 78 not out in reply and they managed to hold on for the draw at 219-9 despite Harry Websdale registerin­g figures of 4-14.

Saltburn struggled at home to Thornaby but Vishant More with 36 and Jacob Midgely with 3 dragged them up to 171 all out, while Harry Spaxman claimed 4-35.

The visitors then lost early wickets as Jack Almond claimed 4-49 and they slumped to 76-7 and eventually 111 all out.

Hartlepool made a good start at Marton thanks to openers Yash Vagadia (29) and Alan Tebbett (68).

Gareth Shaw then added 40 not out in a score of 165-7.

Sam Berry was the pick of the bowling, returning figures of

4-44.

Lee Hodgson then made 37 in reply and then skipper Alex Wardell added 50 runs, alongside Rahul Dalal who hit 56 not out and they ended up on 166-3 to win the game by seven wickets.
