Coulson ‘did himself no harm in club search’
CHRIS Wilder says Hayden Coulson won’t do his chances of finding a new club any harm by displaying the attitude and performance he did at Bishop Auckland on Saturday.
The left-sided defender has been made available for transfer this summer by the Boro boss but still played in the weekend victory.
Coulson is one of four players Wilder has told to find new clubs this summer, along with Grant Hall, Uche Ikpeazu and Chuba Akpom.
However, the defender has been the only one of the quartet training back at Rockliffe this summer and who played as Boro were back in action after their summer break at Heritage Park this weekend.
Coulson played well and was positive throughout the second half as Boro ran out 5-0 winners against their non-league neighbours.
It began a new start for the 24-year-old after a frustrating season last term saw him struggle in separate loan spells at Ipswich Town and Peterborough United.
Asked about Coulson after, Wilder said: “Hayden’s available. He knows the situation.
“He’s available for other teams to take, Grant Hall is available and Uche is available too.
“There are players there who understand the situation, although they’re still contracted to us at the moment.
“They’re good characters and that was why Hayden was involved at Bishop.
“He’s a local boy and he’ll have done himself no harm in terms of getting 45 minutes under his belt.
“Going forward, will he be part of the first-team squad next season?
“No. He understands that and he’s working hard with his agent and the club to make sure a move happens.”
