A COUPLE left devastated after their honeymoon road trip plans were turned upside down have been overwhelmed by the kindness of a stranger.

NHS worker Lynda Wennington and husband to be Neil Ord were left dumfounded when Lynda’s black Yamaha Fazer 800 was stolen from their drive in Lazenby in broad daylight on Tuesday.

The pair are due to be married at Rushpool Hall Wedding Venue, in Saltburn, in two weeks and planned a honeymoon tour through ‘The Romantic Road’ in Germany which passes through picturesque medieval towns.

The Teessiders planned to each ride their motorbikes for the once in a lifetime trip but said their plans were “ruined”.

Lynda said: “It’s been a nightmare we’ve only got two weeks before the wedding.

“I think the bike will have been absolutely trashed by now. I sat and cried last night – it’s just totally ruined our honeymoon.

“I can’t believe they’ve done it in broad daylight.

“I was actually meant to be going to Sheffield on the bike to take my son’s suit down for him to try on but now I have no transport.

“We were hoping for the bike to be at the wedding as well to get photographs of me and Neil, but that’s not going to happen now.”

Despite the theft, the pair said they have been overwhelmed by generous offers from the community offering their bikes for the trip.

The couple will now make it to Germany thanks to one kind stranger who has agreed to loan them his BMW R1150R.

Lynda – originally from Billingham – said: “We’ve had so many offers. A total stranger off Facebook offered his bike for me to use.

“We can now go on our honeymoon on the bikes. It won’t be the same though, not being on my beloved Fazer, but at least we’ll be there thanks to this generous man Ian Fowler.

“The most generous offer ever. Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts.”

The BMW R1150R will be sold after the trip to Germany.

Cleveland Police are investigating the theft of Lynda’s bike.

Police said it is believed to have been stolen between 5pm and 7.45pm on Tuesday.

They said anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident number 126226 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111. The bike’s REG is PF13 KXA.
