A NEW beauty salon has little ones in mind after opening a specialised mini version for children.

Pose Hair Salon is the venture of mother and daughter duo Angela Richardson and Elizabeth Turnbull, who decided to bite the bullet and open their own premises. And, after just a couple of months, the Seaton Carew salon is proving very popular.

Angela, who is in charge of the dayto-day running of the salon, leaves all the styling to her daughter, Elizabeth, who is a Wella award-winning hairdresser. The pair have been joined by beautician Michaela Rowland.

Angela said: “We have Hartlepool’s only children’s salon where kids can have everything from first hair cuts to princess packages and, over the summer, we are offering Friday specials of unicorns, fairies, mermaids and princesses as well as a photoshoot day. The area has been created especially for children and they absolutely love it.

“There are a lot of toys and things for them to do. Often children can get upset going for a haircut, but this way they look forward to it.”

Angela said it is not all pink and glitzy, although the wall is adorned with a lit-up fairy castle, as they also have an area dedicated to superheroes.

She said: “The children love going there for their hair cut.” And, for children’s events and parties, fairy godmothers are on hand to give the event an extra touch of magic. Elizabeth has spent a number of years as a mobile stylist, but decided she wanted to open a base of her own. Angela was happy to join her in launching Pose Hair Salon.

The pair, who live in Hartlepool, spent some time looking for the perfect place before they chose a shop in Elizabeth Way. Angela said: “It needed refurbishing to get it fit for purpose because it had been standing empty for a couple of years.”

But, now it is all up and running the pair couldn’t be happier with their new place. Angela said business is doing really well so far.

The Pose’s Pumpkins school holiday events include weeks themed to princesses, unicorns, fairies and mermaids. There will be a hairstyling, glitter painting, nails painted, mocktails and much more, including a photoshoot at the end of each two-hour session.
