A weekend of fun at the fair
THOUSANDS flocked to Redcar Family Fun Gala this weekend, which featured two days of entertainment.
Families and visitors were treated to music from tribute acts such as Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran and Little Mix, as well as being able to enjoy all the fun of the fair.
The gala, held at Mo Mowlam Memorial Ground just off the Trunk Road, also featured a num- ber of craft stalls and food trucks, as well as an extreme stunt show.
Yesterday, Stay Another Day hitmakers East 17 took to take to the stage alongside a circusstyle dance performance inspired by hits from The Greatest Showman film.
There were smiles galore as kids were kept entertained by not just the live music but a variety of family-friendly activities, including donkey rides, huge bubble displays, and a special appearance from Mario and Luigi.
Many brought along camping chairs and picnic blankets to find a spot near the main stage, with one group even having their own gazebo.
In the distance, screams could
be heard from children having a whale of a time on the huge fairground attractions, which included fun houses, a waltzer XL, bouncy castles and fairground classic hooka-duck.
Lisa Horner, who attended the event with friends and family, said: “We are all loving it! The girls are looking forward to seeing all the tribute acts – and going on the rides!”
Gillian Dutton and Jodie Hatton added: “The music and craft stalls are all great. We’ll be here all day!”
First-time attendees Charlotte Brown and Carol Barnes, who travelled from Loftus and Whitby to meet family in Redcar, said: “There’s a bit of everything really! It’s a really good day and it’s the first time we’ve been, and we travelled far.”
Katie, Ellie and John Denney were all smiles as they sat down amongst the crowds after winning a goldfish in its own fish tank and an inflatable balloon at the fair. Katie said: “It’s really good here – the music is great!”
