WORLD-CLASS 007 FAVOURITES UP FOR AUCTION
ONE of the world’s premier collections of James Bond-related toys will be offered for sale at a Teesside auction.
Auction lots are expected to raise well over £75,000 when the 007 toys go under the hammer at Vectis Auction House on Teesside Industrial Estate in Thornaby.
Taking place on Tuesday, August 9, the sale features items dating from 1962 to the present day.
Included in the sale will be items such as board games, guns, attache cases, model cars and figures, with pieces such as a KSS Secret Agent Gun expected to raise £400 to £600, and a Lone Star Snipers Rifle at £400 to £500.
Estimates range from £50 to the high hundreds for a single item in the sale, which is sure to leave you both shaken and stirred.
Pieces such as the ‘Vanishing Bleed’ disappearing blood set will be on offer, as well as camera guns and a bullet firing lighter.
The iconic Aston Martin DB is well represented with a Corgi 270 model having a pre-sale estimate of £260 to £320, Japanese tinplate version at £400 to £500 and more unusual Bobsleigh model at £300 to £400.
There is even a Scalextric Slot Car Set in its original box from the 1960s, which, due to its superb condition, commands a presale estimate of £800 to £900.
October this year marks the 60th anniversary of the release of the film Dr No – the first time Sean Connery made his way on to the screen as the iconic character, opposite Ursula Andress.
Toy specialist and acknowledged James Bond expert Andrew Reed was staggered when he first viewed the group of items up for auction.
He said: “This sale is nothing short of world class. We see James Bond collectables on a daily basis here at Vectis but it is the rarity and condition of this group that makes it so special.
“It provides a phenomenal opportunity for James Bond fans to add pieces to their collections that are rarely seen on the open
market.”
