Zach Steffen - 8

Nothing he could do with the goal but produced some great saves at important times and commanded his penalty area well too.

Anfernee Dijksteel - 7

Carried the ball well out of defence and was solid overall.

Darragh Lenihan - 7

Orchestrated things really well both in and out of possession at the heart of the defence.

Marc Bola - 6

Solid overall but was caught out for the goal as Wallace got in behind him.

Isaiah Jones - 7

Got his season up and running with a goal, with the introduction of Giles already benefitting him. Showed moments of class and worked hard defensively too but it was not his best display in terms of use of the ball as his crossing was quite wasteful at times.

Jonny Howson - 8

Excellent in and out of possession, orchestrating things, showing some excellent touches and great composure in possession. Started off the attack for the first goal.

Matt Crooks - 6

Not as involved as he might hope to be but added a presence in midfield when Boro needed one.

Riley McGree - 6

Not his best display. He tried to be positive but not much came off for him on this occasion.

Ryan Giles - 8

Was really positive down the left and delivered some wicked balls into the penalty area. Deserved to finish with at least one assist.

Duncan Watmore - 6

Missed a glorious chance to make it 2-0 before the break and was often pushed too easily off the ball in the second half as he tired.

Chuba Akpom - 7

Really positive display. Some really positive link-up play and a great ball across to register an assist for Boro’s first.

Substitutes

Josh Coburn

(For Watmore, 63’) - 6

Put himself about to help Boro turn the ascendancy late on but could not find a way through.

Marcus Forss (For Akpom, 63’) - 6

Some bright touches and good movement but lack of game time and training this summer showed.
