WHEN speaking to Chris Wilder, Marcus Forss said it took him only “one minute” to decide Boro was the move for him this summer.

The striker is certain he will improve as a player under his new boss and his first impressions of his new teammates are very positive.

Forss completed his permanent switch from Brentford to Boro last week and made his debut from the bench in the opening-day 1-1 draw with West Brom.

After recovering from injury and after a summer of transfer uncertainty, he was delighted to get back in the thick of the action and is now relishing the prospect of sharpening up and building an understanding with his new teammates at Boro.

Forss has been aware of Boro’s interest for a while and was initially keen on the move.

Then once he had spoken to Wilder he was certain it was the switch he wanted.

Forss said: “I knew the links and as soon as I spoke to him (Wilder) it took me one minute to realise this is where I want to be and I will improve as a player.

“I’ve been checking out the team for a long time and I said I wanted to come and make an impact.

I was trying to wait for everything to be sorted.

“I was buzzing to get it done and got straight here so I could get involved with the team.”

Forss likes what he has seen from Boro so far.

He added: “I think the whole team, from the back, it is a very good team.

“I look forward to getting to know them better and what I want from them and what they want from me. I am looking forward to it.

“It’s a very good team with very good coaching staff and manager, I’m looking forward to working here and getting in my stride.”

Forss was blown away by the deafening Riverside for the West Brom opener and says the roar which greeted him when he was introduced will live long in the memory.

He said: “Even before the game I heard the support, then I came on - that’s a moment I won’t forget.

“It’s my first game for a long time after my move and injury so I look forward to settling in.

“It’s about building relationships with the team and coaching staff, the first few days have been brilliant.”
