Jurassic parks are on your doorsteps

IF your little ones fancy coming face to face with a dinosaur this summer, you don’t have to travel very far to do it.

Forget Jurassic Park and head for one of Teesside’s green open spaces instead.

For a clever virtual reality exploring app has been created aimed at families that makes exploring Teesside’s green open spaces a little bit more interesting.

Called Love Exploring, parents can download it to their phones or tablets for free.

Trails have been created across the likes of Preston Park in Eaglescliffe, Ropner Park in Stockton and more and if you log on whilst you are there, the kids can come face to face with any number of wild and wonderful creatures along the way.

The VR trails also include a large ladybird, whopping woodlouse and a giant green shield bug flying through Ropner Park.

Tree fairies and dinosaurs are there to discover at John Whitehead

Park, Preston Park, Ropner Park and Littleboy Park as well as Allison Trainer Park across the borough.

There are also mini beasts at Romano Park and Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park plus a special space-themed exploring trail at Wynyard Woodland Park.

The app is free to download, good news for anyone tightening the purse strings this summer holiday as the cost of living ratchets up.

Stockton councillor Steve Nelson said: “The Love Exploring app is free to download and brings exciting, virtual creatures to life. With games and activities on the app there’s chance to have lots of fun while learning all about the creatures which pop up along the way and it helps little ones keep fit and active over the holidays too.

“To take part all you need to do is search for Love Exploring app in your app store and download it at home as it’s quicker and ready to use when you get there.

“When you arrive at the park open the app and you are ready to see which magical creatures await along the mapped virtual trails.”
